On December 20, TASS hosted a press conference at which journalists and the professional community were presented with the "Alternative Social Platforms of the Global Majority" report, prepared by the BRICS and SCO Center for Innovative Diplomacy, the Kolaboratoriya research Initiative and the Center for Global IT Cooperation.
The authors of the study spoke about the most relevant aspects of their work, justified the importance of the project, and invited the research community to further discussion, including with the aim of implementing agreed steps to develop digital platforms in the interests of the peoples of the planet.
Andrey Ignatiev, a representative of the Center for Global IT Cooperation, stressed the need to design the future and develop national science-based concepts of the technosphere, of which digital platforms are also a part. He drew attention to the importance of working out such conceptual structures at the technical (progressive standards of safety and sustainability), regulatory, economic, and also, but not least importantly, based on philosophical understanding and socio-humanitarian guidelines of human civilization.
Petr Punchenko, Adviser to the Chairman of the Committee on External Relations of St. Petersburg, who acted as an expert on the project, emphasized the practical importance of the information and background data provided in the report, pointing out that the material would help build a dialogue with foreign countries and serve as a reason and a good basis for the development of international cooperation.
