Participants of the Fifth Russian-Chinese New Media Forum, held on Monday in the form of an online live-stream Beijing-Moscow, agreed to fight false information on the Internet.
Representatives of the leading mass media of Russia and China were invited to the event. The Forum was also attended by the Russian Deputy Minister of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media Bella Cherkesova and Deputy Head of the Cyberspace Administration of China Niu Yibing. TASS was represented by the head of the agency's representative office in Beijing, Andrey Kirillov.
“Russian and Chinese new media noted the importance of combating false information in international cyberspace, agreed on the importance of equality, respect, innovative development, openness, security and order,” the statement issued following the Forum said.
It notes that the Russian and Chinese media “are aimed at deepening cooperation and constructive exchange of views on topical issues.” The forum participants reported that they came to an understanding on a number of issues that relate to the strengthening of cultural exchanges and bilateral interstate contacts based on trust.
“The parties agreed to increase the prestige of Chinese and Russian new media, expand areas of cooperation, create new methods of work, introduce new content of reports, improve cooperation mechanisms,” the document says.
Participants also highlighted the importance of improving the skills of young professionals in the field of international communications. “Russian and Chinese new media welcome the expansion of youth exchanges, focusing on future development,” the statement said. “The parties are ready to contribute to the friendship between Russia and China, passed down from generation to generation.”
