The Centre Participated In a Business Conference in Jakarta

The event became a platform for building a mutually beneficial dialogue between experts from Indonesia and Russia and sharing experience not only in the field of urbanization, but also in other sectors.

In his speech, Vadim Glushchenko touched upon the topics of co-operation between Moscow and Jakarta in the field of information and communication technologies. In particular, he explained why the Indonesian market is one of the most promising for IT companies from Russia to launch their products and create joint projects.

"There are several reasons for this: firstly, Indonesia is one of the leaders in terms of stable GDP growth in the Asia-Pacific region, and it is in Jakarta that the ASEAN headquarters is located. Secondly, Indonesia has a rather independent IT sector from Western solutions, and a number of Russian companies already have successful experience in bringing their technological products to this market. Including thanks to the active position of the Russian Trade Mission," he said.

But, of course, the main argument in favor of Indonesia is its user potential. More than 270 million people live here, and the population continues to grow. At the same time, about 53 per cent of Indonesians have access to the Internet. The income of Indonesia's middle class - approximately 150 million people - is growing steadily, which means the population is looking to spend more on digital technologies and related services. Indonesians' digital literacy is also increasing. According to the research conducted by the Centre, innovative financial technologies (FinTech) and electronic commerce (e-commerce) are now considered to be among the most promising areas for Russian companies to export IT solutions.

"What does the Centre offer in this direction? This is, first of all, assistance to IT companies from Russia in packaging and promoting their solutions in foreign markets and preparing incubation and accelerator programs for Russian startups with subsequent scaling up to the markets of friendly countries. At the moment, we are also working on the creation of a unified marketplace for digital solutions, which will effectively connect customers and implementers. All these efforts are ultimately aimed at creating a unified ecosystem of technology transfer and exchange with friendly countries," concluded the Centre's Director.
