The Rights of Young People in the Online Environment

The Forum became a platform for panel discussions on the security of the Internet space, legal protection of minors in the online environment and the search for common solutions to create a favorable digital environment for young people.

Vadim Glushchenko, Director of the Center for Global IT Cooperation, took part in the Forum as the spokesman of the section "Development Problems of Legal Support of Digital Security in the Contemporary World", where he told about the results of the XVII Internet Governance Forum (IGF) held in Ethiopia and Russia's participation in this track. He emphasized that young people played ever-growing role in the Forum’s activities and in 2022 they made up more than 50% of all IGF participants, which is the highest level in the Forum's history.

Vadim Glushchenko also told about the accumulation of proposals from the expert community to be included into the Global Digital Compact – a UN document that would outline fundamental behavior standards in the digital space for all actors in 2024. The Compact will be voluntary, but this in no way diminishes its importance for the entire Internet community.

Roman Chukov, Chairman of the Board of the Center for Global IT Cooperation, moderated the session "Digitalization of the Labor Market: what are the employers looking for and what should the students be prepared for". The participants of the discussion shared their vision of the future career development in Russia and throughout the world.

It is obvious that today a person without digital skills cannot make good progress in studies or to build a career. The speakers discussed how the technologies are changing work processes in the most unusual ways, including in the field of international relations. Global digitalization is not only obvious benefits, but also risks that can be eliminated through global cooperation.
