“Our Common Agenda” is an agenda of action, designed to strengthen and accelerate multilateral agreements – particularly the 2030 Agenda – and make a tangible difference in people’s lives.

Our Common Agenda contains recommendations across 4 broad areas for renewed solidarity between people and future generations, a new social contract anchored in human rights, better management of critical global commons, and fair and sustainable provision of global equitable benefits to all people. The Secretary General has also made his own recommendations on 12 commitments from the aforementioned Declaration (on the Commemoration of the 75th Anniversary). Among them were proposals for improving global digital collaboration.

The Secretary General proposes the adoption of a Global Digital Compact that would include the following clauses:

·      providing access to the Internet for the entire population of the planet, including in schools to bridge the digital divide; 

·      avoiding Internet fragmentation;

·      empowering people to choose how their data will be used;

·      observance of human rights in the conditions of the Internet;

·      increasing trust in the Internet through the introduction of criteria for accountability for discrimination and misleading content; 

·      promoting the regulation of artificial intelligence to ensure that this area is in line with common global values;

·      the digital space should be perceived as our digital asset, one of the global public goods.

Such a unifying digital agenda in these difficult times for the entire planet sounds very timely from the lips of the head of the most authoritative international organization. Especially considering the numerous risks that, according to Antonio Guterres, the fragmented digital landscape carries with it.  

“We, as the Center for Global IT-Cooperation, fully support the proposals of the UN Secretary General on the Global Digital Compact. And, as part of the Russian IT expert community, we are ready to take an active part in the work on such international instrument. One of our tasks is to find compromise solutions in the intricacies of international cooperation in the IT field. I am sure that we will be able to contribute to the development of joint proposals of all parties interested in the implementation of the UN Secretary General's initiative,” Vadim Glushchenko, Director of the Center for Global IT Cooperation, commented on Antonio Guterres' report.
