Youth Digital Ombudsman told students about the need of protection against threats in the digital space

The Youth Digital Ombudsman conducted four interactive sessions for high school students on the topic "Threats to the information and worldview security of young people on the Internet: what are they and how to recognize them?" Such a relevant topic could not leave the participants of the session indifferent: they actively took part in the conversation, asked interesting questions and gave their ideas on how to protect themselves from destructive content.

In his opening remarks, Dmitry Gulyaev noted that in our time, almost all threats on the Internet are aimed at the foundation of a person's personality, his system of values and world perception. It is necessary not only to be able to defend, but also to understand what threats exist in general and what are their characteristics.

“My goal was not just to tell young people about them [threats]. They already know almost all the destructive phenomena in the network, which were discussed. But not each of them, knowing these phenomena, understands that they are destructive and carry a threat. The aim was to convince young people through an interactive format of discussion to identify these risks and to reveal the threats themselves,” said the Youth Digital Ombudsman about the sessions. At the end of each of the conversations, the YDO showed the students a memo about Internet threats and how to stay protected.
