The corresponding memorandum, signed by the director of the Center, Vadim Glushchenko, recognizes the growing influence of the Internet on the younger generation and the need to create a secure digital environment. In this regard, “considering the importance of filling the digital space with positive educational content” and “emphasizing the need to create universal ethical principles and standards of behaviour in creating a digital environment for children”, the Center agrees to faithfully follow the provisions of the Charter.
“It's impossible to remain indifferent to the online protection of children. And the Sigital Childhood Ethics Charter, in the creation of which the Center had also taken part, became a logical continuation of the noble initiative of the Russian IT business. And we could do nothing more but join it. I am sure that this document will resonate with foreign partners, because the task of creating a safe environment for the youngest Internet users is relevant, without exaggeration, for all international participants on the digital track. And we see the role of our Center in establishing international cooperation for the Alliance in this important area,” concluded Vadim Glushchenko.
The Digital Childhood Ethics Charter was presented by the Alliance on November, 29. It contains values and rules of behaviour, the observance of which will create a digital environment that is safe and conducive to the children’s development. It is based on 5 key principles: respect for the child as an individual, shared responsibility, preserving privacy and values in the online space, and an inclusive approach.
