The Alliance has introduced a new portal titled "TSIFRAteka. Library of Practical Knowledge", "For a Safe Digital Childhood" award, "Safe Digit" educational marathons, an immersive performance about the interaction of man and the Internet, "Digital Ethics of Childhood" charter, "Digital Impact" study and "Hash Database" project.
"According to the results of a study conducted in 2023 by the Alliance for the Protection of Children in the Digital Environment together with Rostelecom and Mindsmith, 96% of teenagers face some kind of digital challenges. Among the most common threats are fakes, fraud, gambling addiction, Internet addiction and cyberbullying. This year, we plan to implement a number of educational initiatives and organize dozens of educational events throughout Russia aimed at improving the digital literacy of children, parents and teachers. Together with the founding companies and members of the advisory group, we aim to create new services and useful content that will help bridge the digital divide between children and adults," commented Elizaveta Belyakova, Chairman of the Alliance for the Protection of Children in the Digital Environment.
The event included a discussion of the projects of the members of the Alliance's advisory group, which includes representatives of government authorities, educational organizations, NGOs and businesses: the Russian Association of Electronic Communications (RAEC), the Institute for Internet Development (IRI), the Regional Public Center for Internet Technologies (ROCIT), ANO "Dialog Regions", the Center for Interdisciplinary Research of Modern MGPPU, ANO "Center for Global IT Cooperation", ANO "CISM", ANO "Digital Economy", "Zhuravlik" charity organization, Russian State Children's Library, the Institute of the Digital Youth Ombudsman, "Pilot Media" movement of youth and school media, the Federal State Budgetary Institution "Institute for the Study of Childhood, Family and Upbringing" and others.
The participants of the event discussed joint plans and agreed to cooperate on a number of projects related to children's digital security.
"RAEC, together with the Alliance for the Protection of Children in the Digital Environment, has planned the implementation of several initiatives in 2024. One of them will be the preparation of test tasks and special events for children within the framework of the National Russian Action of the RAEC - "Digital Dictation", which is rightfully the largest test of knowledge in the field of Internet technologies. I am convinced that with the active support of the Alliance, the action will take place on an even larger scale, and questions for children will receive additional expert assessment. We also decided that the Alliance will act as a partner of the Children's Runet nomination within the framework of the Runet 2024 Award. Together, we will continue to contribute to improving digital literacy and increasing knowledge in the field of digital services," commented Sergey Grebennikov, Director of the Russian Association of Electronic Communications (RAEC).
Special attention was paid to the Alliance's flagship project, the new digital security educational portal titled "TSIFRAteka. Library of Practical Knowledge". Information about threats on the Internet and tips on how to deal with them are publicly available on the platform. The first topics for the portal were selected based on the most frequently asked questions about digital security in Yandex search. Thus, the most popular questions were about cyberbullying (33%), Internet addiction (25%), gambling addiction (21%) and online fraud (11%). The new resource combines expert articles, practical tips, online quizzes and useful services for children, parents and teachers.
As part of the presentation at VDNH, it was announced that applications for the "For a Safe Digital Childhood" award, organized by the Alliance for the Protection of Children in the Digital Environment, will begin on February 1. The award is aimed at supporting projects to develop a secure digital environment throughout Russia. Not only adults, but also children aged 14 and over will be able to apply for participation in the competition. The award will be held in three main categories: "Online Safety Lessons" for teachers, "Adults and Children on the Internet" for parents and "Best Youth Project" for children.
The Alliance's plans for 2024 include organizing screenings of a new immersive performance about the interaction of man and technology and holding a series of "Safe Digit" educational marathons in the regions of Russia, including Perm, Kaliningrad and Pyatigorsk.
The founding companies of the Alliance will also conduct an annual "Digital Impact" study and continue to develop the "Hash Database" project, which allows technology companies to transmit information about illegal content in the form of digital fingerprints and links, label controversial content and remove it from their sites.
