The promotion campaign #MyCharter starts on the Safer Internet Day

On February 8, Safer Internet Day, the Alliance for Protection of Children in the Digital Environment announces the launch of the #MyCharter campaign. It is held in support of the principles of the “Digital Childhood Ethics” Charter.
Editorial Board of the Center for Global IT Cooperation

As part of the campaign, throughout February, representatives of the Alliance and its founders will talk about safety measures for children on the Internet, digital literacy rules, special products and solutions, share positive content, and invite everyone to become part of the campaign.

“Digital Childhood Ethics Charter, created by the Alliance for the Protection of Children in the Digital Environment, should become a fundamental document for all platforms operating in the Russian digital space. The basic ethical principles that are specific to the Runet must be observed by all participants, regardless of the jurisdiction of the company's head office,” said Alexander Zharov, General Director of Gazprom-Media Holding.

The Digital Childhood Ethic Charter was developed by nine of Russia's largest companies in the IT and media industry, which previously founded the Alliance for the Protection of Children in the Digital Environment, and was presented in November 2021. The Charter provides a guide for action for organizations, companies and associations working with children, and contains values and rules of conduct designed to unite and coordinate efforts to ensure a child-friendly and safe digital environment.

The charter is based on 5 key principles:

·      respect for the child as an individual;

·      joint responsibility of all participants for the safety of children in the digital environment;

·      maintaining confidentiality (protection of personal data of children, personal and family secrets);

·      inclusive approach;

·      preservation of value orientations in the online space.

Voluntary adherence to these principles will increase the level of digital literacy and protect children from potential threats on the Internet. Representatives of the state, business, specialized and public institutions and organizations, associations of teachers and parents who are able to contribute to the common mission can join the Charter.

The Center for Global IT-Cooperation joined the Alliance's Digital Childhood Ethics Charter in December last year. It also participates in the work of the Alliance Advisory Group and, among other things, organizes cooperation with foreign experts and organizations in the field of children's safety on the Internet in order to exchange experience and promote the ideas of the Alliance on international platforms.

You can join #MyCharter on the Alliance website.
