Tashkent, February 6, 2025 - INHA University in Tashkent hosted a foresight session organized by the Center for Global IT Cooperation on the development of smart cities and digital solutions for urban infrastructure. The event brought together representatives of government agencies, businesses and leading educational institutions from Russia and Uzbekistan.
During the session, Russian companies presented innovative solutions in the field of artificial intelligence, robotization and traffic flow management. Special attention was paid to the issues of digitalization of urban economy and improvement of road safety. The following companies presented their projects: Urbantech Uzbekistan, Mars Technologies LLC, VisionLabs LLC, InformTechTrans JSC, RIAS Housing and Communal Services.
Vadim Glushchenko, Director of the Center for Global IT Cooperation said: “Uzbekistan today demonstrates confident steps in digital development, and the concept of ”smart cities“ has become an important element of the ”Digital Uzbekistan-2030" national strategy. And Russian IT companies have significant experience and advanced solutions that can contribute to the development of the digital ecosystem in the region, including in the area of "smart cities". And today's event is an outstanding example of an effective meeting of supply and demand."
Muzaffar Mukhitdinovich Jalalov, Rector of INHA University in Tashkent, expressed readiness to support cooperation in the field of education and emphasized the importance of training for the digital economy. He noted the University's successful projects, including joint programs with international partners aimed at teaching programming and other IT skills to young people.
Eduard Shantaev, General Director of the Federal Center for Applied Development of Artificial Intelligence, noted the importance of live communication for sharing experience. He highlighted key applications of AI in industry such as predictive maintenance, computer vision and manufacture robotization. Shantayev also emphasized the need to train qualified personnel for successful implementation of these technologies and noted that without human beings, any technology is nothing. All technologies should work for the benefit of the human being, for the benefit of the citizens.
In his speech, Vasily Viktorovich Shpak, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, noted the importance of developing the concept of smart and safe cities to improve the quality of life and management efficiency.
THe expressed the interest of Russian companies in cooperation with Uzbek partners and noted that for systemic bilateral cooperation in the sphere of digital technologies and radio electronics, the staff of Russian Trade Mission in Uzbekistan includes a digital attaché ready to support projects with potential for joint development all round the clock.
To discuss specific investment projects, Shpak suggested the site of the "INNOPROM. Central Asia" exhibition scheduled for April 28-30, 2025 in Tashkent.
The foresight session was an important step in strengthening the partnership between Russia and Uzbekistan in the field of information technologies. As a result of the event, specific directions for further cooperation were outlined, including the realization of joint projects and expansion of educational initiatives.
