Russian Cabinet to allocate over 2.4 bln rubles for artificial intelligence research

This grant will be the second tranche of funding provided for the research.

The Russian Government will allocate over 2.4 bln rubles for the research in the field of artificial intelligence. This was reported by the press office of the Russian Cabinet on Friday.

According to the statement, “over 2.4 bln rubles will be allocated from the Reserve Fund to continue research in the field of artificial intelligence.” The respective directive has been signed by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.

The funds will be used to increase the computing power of “Lomonosov 1” supercomputer that was installed at the Moscow State University and is being used to study AI capabilities.

This grant is now the second tranche of funding provided for the research, reminded the press office. In December 2021, the government allocated over 1.8 bln rubles for the same purpose.
