Dmitry Chernyshenko chaired the first meeting of the government commission on scientific and technological development. The commission was created by the decree of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The meeting was attended by Presidential Aide Andrey Fursenko, Minister of Science and Higher Education Valery Falkov, Minister of Health Mikhail Murashko, Head of Rospotrebnadzor Anna Popova, Head of FMBA Russia Veronika Skvortsova, President of the Russian Academy of Sciences Alexander Sergeev, members of the Federation Council, as well as representatives of the Ministry of Finance of Russia, scientific research institutes of the country, rectors of universities, regional governors and representatives of state corporations.

The main issue of the meeting was the work on a state programme for the scientific and technological development of Russia. As Chernyshenko noted, it requires modern management methods. Scientific and technological forecast should become one of its main tools.

“This is a key element of managing the state programme. We need to use modern technologies, including artificial intelligence for the operational analysis of scientific fronts and critical technologies,” said Chernyshenko, quoted by his press service.

The use of such approaches will help to make management decisions on adjusting programmes as quickly as possible, provide targeted support measures and involve young people in the implementation of the most ambitious and specific scientific projects, the Deputy Prime Minister explained.

“All scientific and technological projects for which federal funds will be directed must bring concrete results, become a reflection of the needs of the population and the country's economy. This must be taken into account when selecting them. We must take into account not only advanced technologies, but also people with fresh and new views who will implement them,” Andrei Fursenko, in turn, noted.

According to Chernyshenko, at the moment the state program includes 75 structural elements, and 20 of them are part of national projects.
