RIGF 2022 starts on September 28

Forum participants will discuss how the preparation of the Global Digital Compact is coming along, speak on ecosystem regulation, and exchange experience of fighting against destructive content. The use of artificial intelligence (AI) in online technology, namely new challenges facing the society and users, reduction of risks associated with AI, and the impact the Internet and artificial intelligence technology have on the development of human civilization, will be another important theme of the first day of the forum. 

The second day of the RIGF 2022 will start with the Virtuti Interneti award ceremony and the winner’s traditional lecture. New educational technologies, cybersecurity issues, and risks associated with the digital environment of today and tomorrow will be the day’s key themes. The forum will conclude with a session dedicated to youth participation in Internet governance, in which the outcomes of the youth IGF 2021 program, Youth RIGF 2022, programs for the world’s youth, for example, those of the ITU, EuroDIG, and IGF, as well as information on youth projects of the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ will be presented.

Among the forum’s key speakers are previous years’ participants and new figures. For example, Vadim Glushchenko (ANO Center for Global IT-Cooperation), Andrey Kashanin (Institute for Public Administration and Governance of HSE), and Hariniombonan Andriamampionon (Airtel Madagascar) will speak at the “Global Digital Compact” session, which will be held on September 28 and headed by Roman Chukov, chairman of the Board of the Center for International Promotion.

Sergey Plugotarenko, moderator of the discussion and director of RAEC, together with session participants, namely Igor Alexeev (Yandex), Damir Salikhov (MTS), Irina Levova (Big Data Association), Alexey Minaev (Ozon), Dmitry Ter-Stepanov (ANO Digital Economy), and Elena Zaeva (Federal Anti-Monopoly Service), will later share their opinions on ecosystem regulation as well.

The session titled “Russian and World Experience in the Field of Combating Destructive Content: The Role and Responsibility of Digital Platforms” will be moderated by Director of the Institute of Legal Regulation of the National Research University Higher School of Economics Anna Dupan. Among session participants are Rustam Sagdatulin (ROCIT), Vladimir Todorov (Lenta.ru), Diana Okremova (Legal Media Center, Republic of Kazakhstan), and Konstantin Golub (VK).

Karen Kazarian will moderate the session on “Preserving Human Agency in AI-Enabled Internet,” which will be joined by Alexey Neiman (Big Data Association), Vladislav Onishchenko (Analytical Center for the Government of the Russian Federation), Andrey Neznamov (Sberbank), Sergey Garbuk (TC 164), and Fedor Lukyanov (Patriarchal Commission for Family and Protection of Motherhood and Childhood).

The session on “Edtech: New Technologies in the New World. What Changes Have Occurred in the Educational Services Market, and How People and Companies Have Adapted to Them” will be moderated by Makar Goncharov, managing partner of Pulsar Production. Heads and representatives of popular educational platforms and clusters, namely Valentina Kurenkova (Netology), Aleksey Polovinkin (Cifrium), Mikhail Myagkov (Maximum Education), and Natalia Tsarevskaya (Skolkovo, Ed2 Accelerator), will speak at the session. 

Alexey Lukatsky, a well-known expert and business consultant on information security at Positive Technologies, will moderate the session on “Cybersecurity: Ensuring Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP).”

As for the “Digital Born Generation: Risks of the Digital Environment Today and Tomorrow” session, which will be moderated by Chairperson of the Alliance for the Protection of Children in the Digital Environment Elizaveta Belyakova, it will bring together Ruslan Yusufov (Mindsmith), Tatiana Kurbatova (ANO Center for Global IT-Cooperation), Fanny Rotino (ITU), and Anton Kukanov (Russian Quality System).

The 12th Russian Internet Governance Forum (RIGF 2022) will be held on September 28–29, 2022, in an online format. The forum is organized by the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ and Center for Global IT-Cooperation with the support of the Ministry of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media of the Russian Federation. Kaspersky Lab and MSK-IX are partners of the forum.
