Russian IT industry leaders to speak at Youth RIGF 2023

The session on “Whirl of the Darknet: Protection from the ‘Dark Forces’ of the Web” will focus on what’s hidden on the shadow side of the Internet and how to avoid the harmful effects of the darkest parts of the World Wide Web. First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy, Information Technologies and Communications Anton Gorelkin, General Director of Rostelecom-Solar Igor Lyapunov, Chairperson of the Alliance for the Protection of Children in the Digital Environment Elizaveta Belyakova, Director of RAEC Sergey Grebennikov, Head of Research and Development at JSC Kaspersky Lab Anton Ivanov, and Chief Legal Advisor on International Law at the General Radio Frequency Center Stanislav Makhortov will speak at the session. Ruslan Yusufov, founder of Mindsmith, will moderate the discussion. 

The “‘Create Not Download’: National Content” session will focus on the problem and specifics of piracy in Russia, and the opportunities that online content creators are being provided with following the withdrawal of Western companies. Advisor to the founder and head of SMP Racing, a program for the advancement of Russian motosports, Alexander Moiseev, General Director of the Internet Video Association Alexey Bydrin, General Director of the National Federation of the Music Industry Nikita Danilov, Deputy General Producer at Okko Svetlana Sonina, Head of the Digital Transformation Department at Plekhanov Russian University of Economics Mikhail Nachevsky, and Head of the Anti-Piracy Department at START Sergei Vasilenko will speak on the topic. The session will be moderated by Alexey Goreslavsky, General Director of the Internet Development Institute.

The past year has seen a volunteering boom; however, not everyone realizes that one can voluntarily serve to the IT industry as well. Some people start their career by helping pro bono; others, vice versa, share the experience they’ve already gained. So, can IT volunteerism help overcome infosec staff shortage in Russia? Discussion on the prospects for the symbiosis between the volunteer movement and high tech, planned to be held at the session on “IT Volunteers and Information Security: Digital Innovation for the Benefit of Society,” will be joined by General Director of Positive Technologies Denis Baranov, Vice Rector of Plekhanov University Svetlana Malkarova, founder of the Masalovich and Partners group of companies and owner of the CyberDed Telegram channel Andrei Masalovich, Deputy Chairman of the Council of the Association of Volunteer Centers Matvey Masaltsev, and Editor-in-Chief at the Readovka media conglomerate Alexey Kostylev. The track dedicated to volunteerism will be moderated by Chairman of the Board of the Center for Global IT-Cooperation Roman Chukov.

Those who will join another forum session, “How Deep Is Your Fake: Online Fraud Techniques,” will discuss the advancement of generative technologies, the effects it can have on the future of entertainment and public life, and the ways fake news and deepfakes change online information space. General Director of Agenda Media Group Alexey Parfun, Professor of the Department of Theory and History of International Relations at St. Petersburg State University Konstantin Pantserev, Head of the Strategy Department of ANO Dialogue Timofey Vi, and Yuri Lindre, analyst at the Center for Global IT-Cooperation, have been announced as keynote speakers. The discussion will be moderated by Elina Sidorenko, Director of the Center for Digital Economy and Financial Innovation of MGIMO University. 

Following the main sessions, forum participants will have the opportunity to attend fun-zone activities, including entertaining IT venues and insightful master classes on various equally important topics: countering manipulations online, the future of the Internet in Russia, cooperation with Eastern business partners, and the ways to successfully implement IT startup ideas. It should also be recalled that the Forum will mark the birthday of the .рф TLD. To honor this wonderful day, the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ will organize a special quiz on the evolution of Runet; the winners will get memorable prizes.

According to Vadim Glushchenko, Director of the Center for Global IT-Cooperation, the event will offer young people a great opportunity to share their ideas on the development of Russia’s segment of the Internet: “Our main goal is to become a platform for horizontal networking between forum participants.”
