Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ holds roundtable discussion at DTA conference

Conference participants met with leaders of the industry and organizations working in the field of ensuring trust and security in the use of ICT, discussed current areas for the development of ICT infrastructure and strategies for improving the regulatory and legal framework, and also received updates on ongoing and planned projects in this area.

The Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ was the general partner of the event and organized a round table, Opportunities and Challenges of Russian Industry Community’s International Interaction. The roundtable discussion focused on the experience of the Russian industry community participating in international dialogues and forums, as well as the Russian Federation’s participation in issues of standardization and coordination of the Internet. CCTLD Director Andrey Vorobyev moderated the discussion featuring Natalia Babekina (Ministry of Digital Development of Russia), Anton Baskov (ADT), Vadim Glushchenko (Center for Global IT Cooperation), Boris Miroshnikov (Garda Technologies), Irina Danelia, Pavel Pozdnyakov and Andrey Aleinikov (Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ).

Deputy Director of the Coordination Center Irina Danelia spoke at the meeting about the goals and objectives of the Country Code Names Supporting Organization (ccNSO) and the Coordination Center experts’ contribution to its work. In 2023, the ccNSO turns 20 years old, and in all these years the organization has made a great contribution to many processes taking place within ICANN, Irina Danelia noted. The report highlighted the most important milestones and achievements of the ccNSO since its inception and discussed in detail the current policy development processes for country-specific domains. Recall that Irina Danelia is a member of the ccNSO Council and is Deputy Chairman of the ccNSO Strategic and Operational Planning Standing Committee (SOPC).

Vadim Glushchenko, Pavel Pozdnyakov, and Andrey Aleinikov shared their experience of participating in the Global Internet Governance Forum (IGF 2023). Andrey Aleinikov said that this year a huge number of participants registered at the IGF: more than 8,000 people and a record number of applications for organizing sections were submitted: about five applications per available spot.

“But despite this, four sessions were organized with the participation of the Youth Council of the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ: on artificial intelligence in education, darkweb regulation, the international legal dimension of ICT, as well as an hour-long networking session, which was called The World Wide Web of Youth: Cooperation for Enlightenment, organized together with the Center for Global IT Cooperation,” said Andrey Aleinikov.

The speakers said that at IGF 2023 they recorded a series of short video interviews with young forum participants, in which the interviewees explain why youth involvement in internet governance is so important and receives a lot of attention, and how it is changing over time.

The conference presented the latest issue of the Documentary Telecommunications magazine. In this issue, Coordination Center experts shared their knowledge and experience. The center’s head for social projects Viktoria Bunchuk, and Chair of the CCTLD Youth Council Andrey Aleinikov, spoke about Russian and international projects in the field of internet governance, which young Russian specialists can take part in. The issue contains analytical materials on the development of ICT infrastructure and personnel training, an interesting historical overview of the developments and achievements of Academician Viktor Glushkov, up-to-date information about upcoming events, news from members of the Association of Documentary Telecommunication, and much more.

Also, there was a stand of the Coordination Center at the conference, where visitors could learn about the Coordination Center’s projects and initiatives and talk with experts.
